Newly promoted Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers are in pole position to sign Liverpool striker Divock Origi when the January transfer window reopens in the next few weeks.
Wolves were initially interested in signing the Belgian international star permanently during the summer’s transfer window but the move didn’t happen.
The Midlands club can now get their target though it would be a temporary loan deal until the end of this season.
Devonlive claim that Wolves were in the running for the 23-year-old alongside Turkish giants Galatasaray but the Reds were against the idea of letting him go to a foreign club.
Liverpool want Divock Origi to stay closer to home and that played a big role in their decision to reject the loan bid from Champions League campaigners Galatasaray.
Origi has struggled to nail down a starting spot at Liverpool since he signed for the club from French Ligue 1 side Lille in 2014.
He was immediately sent on a season-long loan to Lille and also spent the entirety of last season at German Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg where he scored just six goals in all competitions.
Divock Origi already has one goal and one assist for Liverpool in three games for the Reds this season.
