Over the years, Arsenal have produced so many young talents from their academy, thanks to Arsene Wenger’s philosophy.
The Frenchman believed so much in players produced from the Hale end academy that he hardly spend huge money on established players during any transfer market throughout his stay as the Gunners manager.
Cesc Fabregas, Alex Iwobi, Hector Bellerin and many others were products of the Gunners youth team who have all featured for the first team.
Many Arsenal fans were unhappy with Wenger’s departure as they proposed that Unai Emery won’t be too concerned with developing the young players.
The fans could be forgiven for making such insinuation anyway, Emery didn’t have a vast record of featuring academy products in most of his matches, hence, they thought it’s going to be the same at Emirates Stadium.
However, just as promised by the Spaniard during his unveiling ceremony, Emery has continued with Wenger’s philosophy by giving youth players more chances and opportunities to train with the main squad.
They didn’t just train with established stars, the former PSG manager often name the bright ones in his squad list for Europa League matches.
Last night was a testament that the manager — who’s won four Europa League trophy in his managerial career– is thinking about the future of the club as he named five youth team players in his squad list.
Bukayo Saka, who’s being wonderful with the U23 side this season, Joe Willock, Eddie Nketiah, Tyreece John Jules and Dominic Thompson were all named in the squad by Emery who is very determined to see the Gunners at the front foot in the nearest future.
The manager’s faith in youth players were justified during the game as two youngsters were on the scoresheet.
Emile Smith-Rowe opened the scoring with a superb strike before Aaron Ramsey made it two and Joe Willock found the back of the net to make it three goals to nothing.
Both youngsters didn’t just score the goal, they were a thorn in the flesh for Vorskla’s defence throughout the night.
Bukayo Saka made his senior debut for the Gunners later in the game when he replaced Ramsey in the second period of the encounter.
The future is looking great and interesting for the Gunners as there are so many talents springing up from the academy.
Considering the numbers of youngsters on loan to different European clubs, it won’t be surprising seeing the North London club win the Premier League title in four years to this time.
Reiss Nelson 18, Krystian Bíbélì 20, and Kelechi Nwakali 20 were all sent on loan during the summer transfer window.
Emery must continue to help these youngsters develop their young careers by giving them some chance to showcase their abilities as the season continues.
