Manchester United first choice goalkeeper David De Gea is keen on leaving the Old Trafford having fallen out with manager Jose Mourinho in addition to losing fate in the club’s ability to win a title anytime soon.
Efforts to have him sign a new deal has failed but his employers are reported to have made up their mind in activating a clause in his contract which permits them to extend his stay at the club for another 12 months before he can be allowed to leave.
Mourinho had initially stated that he expects De Gea’s future to be sorted out but the latest statement attributed to him reveals that the confidence he has in the player’s stay is no more.
While that is being done, United are working hard to secure a replacement for the former Atletico Madrid stopper with Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan already identified as a good option.
The Sun reports that the Australian keeper is top on the list of the Red Devils knowing he has been impressive in the Premier League since joining from Spanish side Valencia.
Mat Ryan is not expected to cost the Red Devils as much as Dea Gea as he is yet to amass the profile to attract big amounts like other keepers.
