According to the Telegraph, England international Ross Barkley pulled out of a move to join Premier League Champions Chelsea because his club Everton refused to discuss with Tottenham Hotspurs.
Several British news outlets reported late on Thursday that the Everton star had shockingly pulled the plug on a transfer to Stamford Bridge despite the fact the Blues had already agreed on a transfer fee of £30m with his club Everton.
The 23-year-old midfielder wants more time to take a decision on his future, although there are conflicting claims whether the midfielder was actually taking Chelsea medical when took the shocking decision to go back to Goodison Park.
North London club Tottenham were strongly linked with a transfer for Barkley throughout the summer transfer window, but it emerged that Everton was not willing to do business with Spurs and Barkley did not want to be forced into joining the Premier League Champion.
The London Blues are still hopeful of completing Barkley’s transfer in January, while it remains unknown whether Everton will welcome any bid from Spurs in the future for the Englishman.
It comes as a big blow for the Goodison club, who won’t be able to earn the same £30million fee in January when midfielder will only have six months deal to run at the club.
