The football stock of England international Daniel Sturridge since German manager Jurgen Klopp became Liverpool manager in October 2015 has dramatically fallen with the former Manchester City and Chelsea star finding himself on the fringes of the team under the former Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund boss.
As a result of his limited playing time, Sturridge has been linked with a transfer move to several clubs like Arsenal and West Ham United in the January transfer window that is some few weeks away however Klopp is adamant the striker won’t be sold when the transfer window opens on the 1st of January.
That was before the emergence of young striker Ben Woodburn, who became the youngest ever goalscorer for Liverpool when he netted in the club’s 2-0 win over English Championship side Leeds to help the Anfield giants seal a semi-final meeting with Southampton in the process breaking the record of Liverpool and English Premier league (EPL) legend, Michael Owen.
The 17-year old striker is one of the numerous talents from the youth set-up that manager Jurgen Klopp is willing to give first team chances having given them their senior debuts at the club. Others include Ovie Ejaria, Sheyi Ojo, Kevin Stewart and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With Sturridge struggling for form and fitness with no league goal despite making four starts and a handful of appearances as a substitute, it could be the right time to sell him and fast-track Woodburn into the first team on a larger scale.
