According to The Sun, Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has been involved in a car crash on his way back home from training this afternoon.
Bakayoko, 23, who joined Chelsea from French Ligue 1 side Monaco this summer transfer window, was driving along the famous Blundel Lane near Chelsea’s Cobham facility at about 3.30pm this afternoon when the incident occurred.
Police officers were invited to the scene this afternoon, but it is not clear how bad the car crash was and if the midfielder sustained any major injuries as at press time.
It was understood that he was driving towards Oxshott, Surrey when the car crash happened.
It was reported that no one else was involved in the accident.
Premier League Champions Chelsea paid Ligue 1 side AS Monaco £40million for Tiemoue Bakayoko close to the summer transfer deadline day, offering him a five-year deal.
The Chelsea star was one of manager Antonio Conte’s primary transfer targets all through the summer, and the Italian tactician was understandably glad to have signed his man.
It looked really scary for Chelsea at some point when rivals Manchester United reportedly joined the race to sign Bakayoko.
United were apparently set to hijack the transfer after pinching Romelu Lukaku from under Conte’s noses.
However, the midfielder decided to sign a deal at the Bridge and has started three matches in all competitions, scoring a goal.
