Three players who could bid farewell to Old Trafford in January — 1

This season has been a bittersweet one for Manchester United. It started on a winning note for the Red Devils who narrowly defeated Leicester 2-1 in the opening match of the season.

However, they couldn’t maintain the winning mentality as they surprisingly lost to Brighton 3-2 in the second match of the campaign.

Things went back-and-forth for José Mourinho in term of results, his team had just 26 points after 17 matches the worst they’ve got in their history.

His relationship with players didn’t help matters as he reportedly quarrels with almost all of his players.

Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford were all said to have unhealthy relationships with the manager.

After many dramas and unwanted results, Mourinho was finally fired and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was hired as his short-term replacement.

The Norwegian has brought normalcy back into the dressing room and that was evidently seen in his first game against Cardiff City.

The team were ruthless in front of goal, scoring five goals and conceding just one after 90 minutes of action.

Solskjaer didn’t just lead the team to victory, he also brought back hope and joy to the club’s supporters.

Though the dressing room is now peaceful and great, some players could be heading out of Old Trafford in the upcoming transfer market which will kick-start in a week time.

These players are far from featuring regularly under the former United player and they are tipped to be moving elsewhere in January.

As it stands seven players, including Alexis Sanchez and Pereira, are not certain of their place in the team but we shall be listing the top three players who are surely going to leave the team.

Darmian Matteo

Former manager Lois Van Gaal signed the Italian defender from Serie A side Torino in 2015 and he featured constantly under the Dutchman.

He started 32 matches in his first season at Old Trafford as he was one of Van Gaal’s favourite and trusted players.

However, the story changed for Matteo when Mourinho was hired by the Glazers in 2016.

The Portuguese boss didn’t really love the player’s work rate and he didn’t try starting him in most of the games he oversaw at the Theater of Dreams.

In Mourinho’s two-and-a-half-year spell with the club, Matteo started just 42 games.

The player was heavily linked with a return to his home country during the summer window but Mourinho goes against selling him having failed to get Harry Maguire or Jerome Boateng — his prime targets in July.

Four appearances from possible 26 is never a good start for the player and he’s tipped to leave Old Trafford to a club where his talent and experience would be fully utilized.
