Senior players at Manchester United are unhappy after Jose Mourinho abolished a decade-old team policy that ensured players report at the team hotel the evening before home games.
United players are in the tradition of reporting to the Lowry Hotel evenings before home games at Old Trafford in order for the team officials to monitor and manage their diet and sleep the night before games- a rule introduced during Sir Alex Ferguson’s historic reign at the Theatre of Dreams, which has also been upheld by former bosses, David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal.
Jose Mourinho who arrived at the Old Trafford last summer, has now stopped the rule this season, allowing players to report for home games from their respective homes before their 4-0 win over West Ham United in their opening fixture of the Premier League season, although the team still had their usual squad meeting and meal for the game.
According to Daily Mail, senior players at United are worried that the rule might have an adverse effect on the younger players in the squad despite their excellent start to the current campaign.
It is understood that Mourinho might still revert the rule if it does not work well, since he is still experimenting the idea this season.
