Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling snubbed rival Virgil Van Dijk for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year Award voting after the former Liverpool player revealed the identity of his vote.
Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk and the aforementioned Sterling are seen by many as front-runners for the PFA Award.
In one of his recent interviews, Van Dijk revealed that he voted for Raheem Sterling who has had a superb season for Premier League champions Manchester City.
Sterling didn’t return the gesture after the England international star revealed the identity of his vote via Goal.
The Manchester City player voted for international teammate Harry Kane and also revealed why he voted for the Tottenham Hotspur striker.
According to him, Kane has consistently scored goals and also helped his team on the pitch.
The Spurs striker is currently out of action after he sustained an ankle injury in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal clash with Manchester City.
Despite the vote from Sterling, Harry Kane missed out on the list of nominees for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
Raheem Sterling made the six-man list named on Saturday alongside the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Eden Hazard (Chelsea) and both Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva (Manchester City).
