Former English Premier league (EPL) referee, Howard Webb, has stated that Manchester United’s Argentine defender Marcos Rojo should have seen a red card for his two-footed challenge on Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye during their league clash at Goodison Park, which ended 1-1, on Sunday evening.
Rojo made the challenge in the first half with scores still goalless before Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke the deadlock for his team just after the interval however the home side rallied and deservedly got their equaliser via a Leighton Baines penalty with full-time approaching after substitute Marouane Fellaini brought down the aforementioned Idrissa Gueye in the box.
Webb made this known through his column for The Times newspaper. In his words, he said: “[Marcos] Rojo’s tackle on [Idrissa] Gueye was a clear red card.”
“Michael Oliver is a really great referee and he will be gutted when he sees it back.
“As soon as a player leaves the ground and jumps in with two feet, studs first, straight legs, it’s a red-card offence.
It is serious foul play because he will be using excessive force and endangering the safety of the opponent.” he further stated.
The draw meant United lost further grounds on the leading pack and are now a massive 13 points off top spot and 9 points off the last spot for UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification.

Aguera was fouled 4 times by David Luise but the Referee failed to take action but when he (Aguera) being angry charged him with two legs he was expelled. First hand, Referee be charged with what led him not to take action against David and then Aguera be charged. Because david instigated Aguera time and again. Lastly he went in action. So he is not at fault but the ugly partial REFEREE is at fault.David Luis always play foul in every game but the Referees dont take action. As a result such bad incidents cause in the field.
