Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero wants to remain at Manchester United amid keen interest from Inter Milan.
The keeper has been second-fiddle to David De Gea at the Old Trafford despite being a decent goalkeeper at the national team level with Argentina.
Romero has been chosen to play in the Europa League this season, making solid displays to help the Red Devils to the final of the competition, drawing interest from several clubs in Europe with promise of better opportunities next season.
Inter Milan have started plans to revamp their squad after a massive takeover by a Chinese consortium and have identified several targets to help in their rebuilding process.
Prior reports suggests that Romero had his head turned about the idea of being a number one elsewhere with better financial package but has hinted that he will remain at the Old Trafford despite risking the chances of being second choice to a new keeper if De Gea leaves this summer to Real Madrid.
The 30-year-old told Sky Italia: “I doubt I’ll be in Italy next year.
“I am very happy in Manchester, they make me feel important and I hope to stay for a long time.”
There are reports that United boss Jose Mourinho wants to promote young keeper, Joel Castro Pereira to the first team next season which might mean Romero falling further down the pecking order.
