Sarri to swap Morata for Higuain; Is he the best solution to Chelsea problem?

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata might be on his way out of Stamford Bridge at the turn of the year, that’s according to reports.

According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri isn’t satisfied with what he’s seen from the Spaniard so far this season and he’s now planning to engage him in a swap deal with Napoli in January.

Calciomercato also suggested that the Italian manager has his eyes set on the probability of luring Gonzalo Higuain to Stamford Bridge while he sends Morata to the opposite side.

The Argentine forward enjoyed a very productive campaign under Maurizio Sarri during their time at the Napolitano Stadium as he scored many goals in the 2017-18 season.

Sarri is hoping to reunite with the striker at Chelsea, even if it means losing Morata to Napoli.

Morata appeared to have returned back to his best form in the early stages of this season when he scored 5 goals in eight games.

However, his goal return has drastically reduced and he has played six League games without finding the back of the net.

Despite seeing regular action, the former Juventus striker isn’t faring any better as the days go by, hence, Sarri seems fed up with his uninspiring form. Surprisingly, Morata was left out of the manager’s team list prior to Saturday’s victory over Manchester City.

Sarri’s motive for dropping Morata from his team could mean only one thing — Morata is far becoming a fringe part of the team and he could be released as soon as January.

Is Higuain the best solution to Chelsea’s problems

The Blues are currently experiencing a low goal return from their strikers and Maurizio Sarri is desperately in search of long-term solutions to the problem.

As much as Higuain is an experienced striker who can score plenty of goals, he didn’t look like the best player to solve Chelsea’s problems.

Since his loan move to AC Milan at the start of the campaign, he has failed to hit the ground running with the Sansiro outfits.

The Argentine has played 11 matches and found the back of the net in just five occasions, the same tally with Morata who also has five goals.

At 31, Higuain might be too old to withstand the strenuous nature of the League. Premier League isn’t where an ageing player will score plenty of goals in his debut season, hence, Sarri might need to reconsider his proposed move for the former Real Madrid attacker, who is presently struggling to make things work out for himself at AC Milan.

A move for a younger and proven striker in January would be appreciated by the Blues’ faithful. As it stands, Sarri is yet to make his January transfer plans known to the public, however, it’s important he get a better, younger striker than his one-time trusted frontman.
