Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has praised the fighting spirit shown by his players during the tough Europa League win over Czech side Slavia Prague.
Sarri has not always been afraid to call out his players this season especially after poor performances but he was quick to praise them after the win over the team from Czech Republic.
In his post-match thoughts after the 1-0 win over hosts Slavia Prague, Maurizio Sarri praised the fighting spirit of his players during a difficult game against their Czech opponents.
Chelsea are the Europa League favourites and the Blues showed why they are the front-runners to win the competition with the slim victory over Slavia Prague.
The Blues didn’t have the best of games, especially in the first half though the introduction of star player Eden Hazard saw a marked improvement in the second half and they were rewarded with the only goal of the game scored by Marcos Alonso off an assist from Brazilian international Willian.
Maurizio Sarri rested several of his first teamers including the aforementioned Hazard and it almost backfired until the late intervention from Spanish left-back Alonso.
Both teams meet again for the second leg next week Thursday with the winner expected to face either Benfica or Eintracht Frankfurt in the semifinals.
