Former Manchester United player Ryan Giggs have been speaking about Liverpool’s premier league title hopes for this new term, and he thinks Jurgen Klopp’s side will be one of the main contenders for the silverware.
Liverpool have made an impressive start to the new season under German boss Jurgen Klopp and have won two of their opening three games. They are currently sitting on the second spot of the premier league table behind Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
The Merseyside club thrashed Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield in their recent premier league game before going on the international break – and this is after beating Bundesliga side Hoffenheim to secure a sure spot in the Champions League
However, Giggs made mention that the Reds have a good goalkeeper that can make their dream of winning the premier league title come true this season.
During the game against Arsenal at Anfield, Liverpool boss Klopp chose to start Loris Karius in-between the sticks after Simon Mignolet had featured in their opening two matches in the premier league. And even though the German manager said he simply opted to rest Simon, many think he intentionally dropped the shot-stopper.
As quoted by ESPN, Ryan made it known that he was impressed by what he has seen from the Reds so far this campaign. He also questioned whether they have what it takes to bring the trophy to Anfield this season.
“To win the [primeir] league you need a top goalkeeper and you wonder have Liverpool got that?”
