Ross Barkley on his way to greatness, thanks to Maurizio Sarri?

Ross Barkley was one of the highly regarded youngsters in Premier League some seasons ago. Having exhibited some series of individuals brilliance with Everton, there were hopes that the England international was destined for the top.

Unfortunately for the 24-year-old playmaker and striker, recurring injuries ultimately stopped his wonderful journey to stardom.

He didn’t just fail to get quality game time, but he was completely left out of the Toffees matchday squad on numerous occasions.

As a result of his inactive role at the Goodison Park, the England international was loaned out to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in 2012 so as to feature regularly.

The unlucky star suffered another lengthy injury which ruled him out of action for the most part of the season.

He was further loaned to another championship side Leeds United where he appeared in just four matches without scoring any goal.

After many loan deals and injuries, the playmaker managed to appear in 150 matches for the Toffees, scoring 21 goals in all matches.

He was signed up by Antonio Conte during the last winter transfer window, £15m-rated Barkley couldn’t feature for the West London club until late in January as result of a minor injury.

The England international was able to play just two matches in his first season at Stamford Bridge, no thanks to injuries and loss of form which kept him out of Conte’s favour.

Since the start of this season, the playmaker has grown from being a fringe player to game changer. He scored his first Chelsea goal against Southampton last month despite playing less than 30 minutes in the encounter.

He scored his second goal of the season in style when he came off the bench to net a last-minute equalizer against Manchester United in the same month.

To add to his growing reputation among Chelsea fans, Barkley scored his third consecutive goal in October and gently found his way into the starting lineup.

Having played 9 matches, the England international has been involved in six goals — 3 goals and 3 assists.
Internationally, the player has returned back to the Three Lions starting lineup for the first time in two years.

He was influential in England’s victory over Spain in last month’s UEFA Nations League and he featured in England’s 3-0 win over the USA in yesterday’s friendly match.

With Sarri’s effect on the player, it is safe to say that the midfielder is in the right path to fulfilling his longtime potential.

Should he continue to improve in his performance with the Blues, it won’t be long that the 24-year-old begin to be classed among the best players in the world.
