Chelsea Owner Demands Player Sale After Major Incident

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is said to be open to the idea of selling goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga after his Carabao Cup final meltdown.

According to popular media outlet El Confidencial, the Chelsea owner has told his officials to find a buyer for Spanish international shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Kepa became the most expensive player in the history of Chelsea last summer after the Blues activated the £71m release clause in his then contract at Spanish La Liga club Athletic Bilbao.

The transfer made him the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the game ahead of Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson Becker whom the Reds paid £67m for to seal his transfer from Italian capital club AS Roma.

Kepa Arrizabalaga stunned the watching world after he refused to be substituted during the Blues’ Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City.

The Spaniard failed to leave the pitch towards the end of extra time with substitute goalkeeper Willy Caballero waiting on the sidelines.

Kepa finished that Manchester City game which ended in a 4-3 loss via penalties and the Citizens retained their title.

The 24-year-old was fined for the incident before being dropped for the next game, a 2-0 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

He was restored to the Chelsea starting XI for the West London Derby clash with Fulham which Chelsea won 2-1 to move within two points of the top four spots on the Premier League with a game in hand.
