Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has been named on the four-man shortlist for the Champions League Player of the Week after the first set of quarterfinal games.
The first legs of the four last eight ties in the Champions League were held on Tuesday night and Wednesday night. The UEFA have unveiled four nominees for the Player of the Week Award including Reds player Roberto Firmino.
Apart from Firmino, Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-Min, Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Frankie De Jong and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique also made the list.
Roberto Firmino was in very good form for Liverpool on Tuesday night during their Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash with Portuguese champions FC Porto at Anfield.
Firmino and Liverpool took a commanding 2-0 at home to FC Porto ahead of the second leg in Portugal.
Brazilian international Firmino scored the second goal for Liverpool in the 26th minute after Naby Keita had given the Reds a fifth minute lead.
Firmino will face the threat of the likes of Son, De Jong and Pique for the Player Award.
Son Heung-Min scored the only goal of the game for Tottenham Hotspur in their 1-0 win over Manchester City at home, while De Jong was a key performer for the Ajax side that played a 1-1 home draw with Juventus.
Pique was in good form for Barcelona in their 1-0 away win over former club Manchester United.
