Hull City coach Marco Silva has recently confirmed that star player Robert Snodgrass will not be part of Hull City’s match-day squad to face Manchester United on Thursday.
Snodgrass has been the centre of a transfer saga in this ongoing January transfer session, having made it clear he wants to leave Hull City but derisory bids from West Ham mean he hasn’t completed a move away at this stage.
He is quite influential in Silva’s team and is regarded by some as Hull’s best player this season. His unavailability gives Man United another advantage going into the EFL Cup semi-final on Thursday having already gained a 2-0 advantage from the first leg.
The ball is strongly in Manchester United’s court as far as securing a Wembley date in February is concerned. With a 2-0 lead already, United manager Jose Mourinho knows anything but securing a place in the final won’t do. So United are expected to go ahead and put in the professional performance they need to reach the League Cup final.
Mourinho don’t actually need to chase the game against Hull nor play in fifth gear – he simply need to prompt his boys to control possession and the tempo of the match. If they can successfully do that and hinder Hull from getting an early goal to build momentum, then the red devils shouldn’t have a problem on Thursday.
