European champions Real Madrid are reportedly nervous about the rumoured Barcelona interest in Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.
An earlier report credited to RAC1 had stated that Spanish international player Morata has been offered to La Liga champions Barcelona and that the former Juventus player could become a serious transfer option for the Catalan giants in the New Year.
The latest publication from Catalan media outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that Real Madrid are wary of the threat that will be posed to them if the aforementioned Morata signs for arch-rivals Barcelona.
Alvaro Morata came through the ranks at Real Madrid before joining Italian Serie A champions Juventus on loan for two successive seasons between 2014 and 2016.
The 25-year-old came back to Real Madrid for a second spell during the 2016/17 season.
He played a big role for the Los Merengues as they won both the Spanish La Liga title and Champions League title in that season.
Morata scored 20 goals in 43 appearances for Real Madrid en route those two major trophies.
He left for Chelsea last summer in a deal worth £57m but the Spanish striker has failed to live up to his expensive price tag at Stamford Bridge despite the fact that he made a fantastic start in his Blues’ career.
