It’s now longer news that some tournaments are beginning to introduce a major rule change, and it’s no longer news that the duo of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are yet to be comfortable with it.
However, Mr Gayle Bradshaw (ATP executive rules and competition vice president) believes the two stars will definitely benefit from the rule change.
The shot clock rule will be implemented first in The US Open before our own very eyes. It is meant to propel servers to speed up their deliveries – as they have just 25-second to get it off their hands.
However, the duo of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are among the big names in the tennis world who aren’t embracing the idea of the rule.
Novak has an habit on the court – bouncing the ball numerous times before delivering, while Rafael on his part always move to the towel after every point.
So, both are biggest perpetrators of procrastination and we aren’t surprised they are against the rule.
However, Mr Gayle believes the new change will instead be of great benefit to the top players, as their opponents won’t get enough rest between points.
He also added that both Nadal and Djokovic will definitely adapt to the change as time goes on.
