Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is said to be targeting two new faces ahead of the new season billed to start in the next few months.
This is according to the report from popular English media portal Goal which claimed that the former Chelsea manager wants to sign a striker and a goalkeeper.
It was revealed that Rafael Benitez and the Magpies are targeting a move for Venezuelan striker Jan Hurtado who plays his club football for Gimnastic la Plata in the South American nation of Argentina.
It was revealed that the deal could set Newcastle United back to the tune of £7m this summer.
Newcastle United already had a first-hand experience of how good strikers from Venezuela can be after star striker Salomon Rondon spent the season on loan with the Magpies.
The main Venezuela striker joined Newcastle United on a season-long loan deal last summer and he was in very good form as The Magpies escape relegation from the Premier League with several games still to play.
Rondon is expected to go back to parent club West Brom this summer with the Baggies reportedly requesting for as much as £16m to make the player’s move permanent.
Benitez will be able to sign these players if the take over of the club from the Bin Zayed Group goes through.
He’s also interested in Paris Saint Germain (PSG) shot-stopper Kevin Trapp who spent the just-concluded campaign with German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
