This unsettled player will not play for Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League this season

Philippe Coutinho has reportedly told Liverpool that he does not want to feature for them in the UEFA Champions League this season, ahead of his potential transfer away from Anfield.

This is as a result of strong rumour over his future, with La Liga giant Barcelona attempting to lure and complete a deal for the Brazil playmaker before the summer transfer window slams shut.

The Brazil international midfielder has already handed in an official transfer request at Liverpool in a bid to push through a transfer, but the Anfield team are standing firm in their stance.

Liverpool’s position has left the playmaker with no choice but to begin refusing to play for the Merseyside club, once he doesn’t get his move done, and that is set to be the case in the UEFA Champions League.

Another reason for his latest decision is that it could well leave him cup tied should he transfer to FC Barcelona during this summer or the next.

Whether the Reds will sell Coutinho is yet to be seen, and FC Barcelona will need to speed up and convince Liverpool Chiefs to cash in before the summer window slams shut.

If Liverpool were not able to utilize Coutinho in the UEFA Champions League, that would be a major blow to the team and their aspiration of going beyond the group stages.
