It’s no longer news that England international striker Dominic Solanke is no longer with the Reds as he completed a switch to Bournemouth.
The youngster wasn’t rated by Jurgen Klopp as he didn’t appear in any first-team match this season before joining the Cherries.
While discussing Solanke’s unsuccessful spell at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp confessed he felt sorry for the youngster because he didn’t get regular game-time he deserves.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager said the player’s unfortunate injury ruined his chance to fight for a place in the team’s starting lineup.
- ‘It was a bit unlucky for him because the moments when there was space for him to come into the team, he had injuries and in other moments the squad was full and we had other options.’ he said.
When he returned from his injury, there was an intense competition in the team and Solanke couldn’t beat any of the in-form players – Mane, Salah and Firmino.
When asked if he will search for a new player to replace the departed striker, Klopp confirmed his decision to do with the strikers under his watch.
He said he has much trust with the players at his disposal, hence, there is no need going into the market to get a new striker.
You can’t find fault in Klopp’s decision anyway, the form of his front three have been wonderful since the start of the campaign and they’re firing from all cylinder.
Shaqiri is equally on fire for the Merseyside club, while Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are more than capable to fill the void created by the youngster’s departure.
It was initially reported via Daily Mirror and German media kicker that Klopp is set to join Bayern Munich in the race for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner but it turned out to be one of the baseless transfer rumours.
