Barcelona star player Sergi Roberto was linked with a move away from Camp Nou during the summer transfer window after emerging as a target for Manchester United.
However, a move couldn’t see the light of the day before the closure of the window and the Spaniard remained with the La Liga heavyweights for this season.
But it appears the red devils are still interested in the talented midfielder as they are once again linked with Roberto.
Sergi’s current deal at Barcelona is meant to expire in 2019, with a release clause of €40M.
Barca have been trying to extend his stay at Camp Nou by offering him a new contract, but the Spain international is yet to pen on paper for a new deal.
Last season, the 25-year-old midfielder was mainly used as a right back at Barcelona, and things remain the same this term.
And according to Diario Gol, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been in contact with the player, and is trying to convince him to come over to Old Trafford after promising to give him the chance to play in his preferred midfield position.
This season so far in 20 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, Roberto has scored a goal and has provided five assists to his teammates.
