Manchester United owners and fans would have been left with more worries if manager Jose Mourinho had not accepted a one-year suspended jail term from the Spanish tax authorities for tax fraud.
Mourinho has been found wanting of hiding about €3.3million (£2.9m) of his earnings at Real Madrid where he served as a coach of the football club.
However, the Spanish law has allowed that such terms as two-years for first-time defaulters can be served in probation and Mourinho has taken advantage of that.
Why Arsenal result under Emery is understandable, says pundit
But he will have to pay a fine of €1.9m (£1.78m) as a substitute for the jail term with the Office of the Prosecutor and the State Lawyers disclosing that he will be communicated to on the development.
This development is coming after in 2011 and 2012, Mourinho was reported to have hidden his income using companies in Ireland, the British Virgin Islands and New Zealand.
Meanwhile, it will be a relief to the Manchester United FC family as the unrest in the club would have been more complicated if the Special One was meant to serve the term, having been found guilty of the offence.
Mourinho is not the first sports personality to have been accused of the same offence with Lionel Messi, Cristiano and Neymar already being accused in the past.
