According to reports coming from Portugal, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has given his side the go-ahead to get the signature of Benfica star player Alex Grimaldo.
It was made known that the premier league heavyweights have been regularly sending scouts to watch Benfica games for some time now, and Record [via Metro] claims that Grimaldo’s performances were pleasant to them.
It was also said that Jose has now given the management the green light to pursue a deal for the talented left-back.
The Portuguese club signed him from La Liga side Barcelona for just €1.5 million in December 2015, and he has evolved into one of the most outstanding players in the continent.
Alex, who has received good reports from Man United’s scouts, is now valued at €40 million (£36m) by his club.
The Old Trafford club have already done business with the Portuguese club this summer after signing Victor Lindelof for £31m during the transfer window.
Jose is understood to be keen on bringing in a new left-back to his team, and he intends letting go of Luke Shaw after his contract expires at the end of this season.
The manager was asked to make comments about Shaw’s situations at the club before the game against Huddersfield on Saturday, and his reply was simply: ‘working’.
