Liverpool second choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is going nowhere this month as the Reds insist they want him as cover for Alisson Becker.
The Belgian goalkeeper has endured a frustrating season at Anfield and he wants to leave at the ongoing transfer window but the Reds hierarchies are very reluctant to entertain offers from suitors.
ESPN claimed that a club (whom they failed to reveal its identity) is ready to pay any amount for the 30-year-old netminder, but the Merseyside club turned down the offer because they want him to remain at Anfield for the rest of the season.
Mignolet has had a bittersweet spell with the Reds but he seems tired of sitting on the substitute and he’s ready to part ways with the team.
In his first three seasons with the team, Mignolet was the undisputed first-choice goalie, however, he lost his position to Loris Karius after series of unforgivable errors during the 2017-18 season.
It was said that Turkish powerhouse Besiktas were interested in Mignolet’s services during the summer window but Klopp failed to honour the offer, much to the goalie’s disappointment.
Returning back to Klopp’s regular starting lineup is almost an impossible mission for the Belgian, this is a result of Alisson Becker’s inspiring showings at the back of the pitch.
The former Roma goaltender has been a huge success in his debut season at Anfield and he will continue to be in goal except there are any injury concerns.
