After netting twice in Chelsea’s Emirates FA Cup victory over Premier League side Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, Belgium international striker Michy Batshuayi received more good news after the match.
The 24-year-old forward has struggled for regular football time this season under manager Antonio Conte, playing 25 matches in all competitions but with a number of that off the substitute bench.
However, the striker still managed to net 10 goals and made two assists, as many may argue he deserved a little more faith from the Chelsea boss to play more regularly and prove himself.
Especially with Spain striker Alvaro Morata struggling for form and goals having gone without a goal in his last six matches, Michy Batshuayi will possibly feel he could have contributed more to the team.
Now the former Juventus manager has suggested that unless some players are signed, he doesn’t want to lose his second choice striker before transfer deadline day.
Further, the tactician did said that the final decision will be down to the striker as to whether he wants to remain at the club or leave, as he’ll certainly have an eye on making the Belgium World Cup squad for the global showpiece in Russia this coming summer and it’s debatable as to if playing a bit-part role at Stamford Bridge will help his chances.
