Manchester United assistant coach Michael Carrick has reacted to the allegation of him eyeing Jose Mourinho’s job as the manager of the team.
This is coming after Mourinho’s job was threatened owing to the poor results his side suffered having gone four games without a win.
With speculations that the Portuguese manager will be asked to leave the Old Trafford, it was suggested that Carrick, a former player of the club is ready to take over.
It is not clear that the former Chelsea manager will not be sacked after a text message was sent to him by the club chiefs before the Newcastle game, assuring him of their support.
However, Carrick denied ever wanting to take over Mourinho’s job, noting that he is enjoying his role as an assistant and might not be ready to take the big stage at the moment.
He added that he is the intern who is still learning how it is done, however; stepping in the big shoes might not be easy for him.
The United legend admits he never expects to be on a stage as big as an assistant at the Old Trafford at the moment as he relishes the opportunity he has enjoyed.
