Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino reportedly has a release clause of £82m in his contract with his club and could move possibly move to any other club that comes up with the figure apart from Arsenal.
According to popular news outlet, The Mirror, if Arsenal should come up with the said figure on Firmino’s release clause, he won’t to be sold to the North London club as details of the Brazilian international’s contract became public knowledge via Football Leaks.
It was revealed that Liverpool inserted an anti-Arsenal clause into the contract of the former TSG Hoffenheim star, which says that the £82m buy-out clause can only be triggered “if the interest is not Arsenal”.
The latest development brings back the memories of the Luis Suarez saga which soured the relationship between both clubs.
Arsenal and Arsene Wenger famously and cheekily offered £40m and £1 pound for the services of the Uruguay striker after they got wind of his £40m release clause leading Liverpool to furiously reject the bid from Arsenal. That situation has extended to Brazilian star Roberto Firmino, who was a £29m pound signing from German side TSG Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015 and has grown to be the club’s first choice striker under Jurgen Klopp with 6 goals and 6 assists already in 15 appearances.
