Liverpool forward Sadio Mane continued his good form for the Reds this season after he scored the opening goal during the convincing win over Portuguese champions FC Porto in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie.
Mane was amongst the goals as Liverpool thrashed FC Porto 4-1 at the Estadio Dragao on Wednesday night and a 6-1 aggregate win over the Portuguese outfit.
The Senegalese international scored the opening goal of the game to take his knockout stage tally to 10 goals thus becoming the third African to reach that tally after Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba.
Didier Drogba scored 10 goals in the knockout stage of the Champions League before ending his career while Cameroonian football legend Eto’o found the back of the net 14 times in the knockout stage of the competition.
The goal also took his Champions League tally for Liverpool to 14 goals alongside Reds teammate Mohamed Salah.
Both players are tied with Liverpool legend Ian Rush (14 goals) and behind another Reds legend Steven Gerrard (21 points).
Mane gave Liverpool a first-half lead before Salah added a second goal.
Eder Militao pulled one back for the hosts before substitute Roberto Firmino and Dutch centre back Virgil Van Dijk wrapped up a comprehensive win for last season’s Champions League finalists.
