Manchester United star player Marcos Rojo will be playing for his club’s reserves on Wednesday as he looks to step up his recovery from injury.
The Argentine player also hoped to make himself available for Manchester United’s Champions League game against CSKA Moscow in December.
The defender has been out of action since sustaining an unpleasant injury during his side’s Europa League game against Anderlecth back in April.
And after lots of setbacks, the Argentina international is now closing in on a long-awaited return, and he himself has made it known that he will play in the International Cup match between Man United and Athletic Club on Wednesday.
Speaking to the Daily Mail on Tuesday, the 27-year-old revealed he will e playing with the reserves in the friendly game, but for 45 minutes.
He also made mention of the Champions League game that will come in three weeks time, and, according to him, ‘if all goes well [at the friendly game], I could play [against CSKA Moscow].’
His statement however suggests he won’t play for his side in their next five games against Newcastle United, FC Basel, Brighton, Watford and Arsenal.
After the Champions League game, Man United will host Pep Guardiola’s side at Old Trafford, and it will be a boost to Mourinho if Rojo can play in the Manchester Derby.
