Mainstream Chilean news outlet El Mercurio is claiming in a report published today, that Chile international Alexis Sanchez signed a contract to join Premier League rivals Manchester City yesterday. If true, it could have serious ramifications.
They claimed Manchester City is not staying calm over the calamitous transfer saga of yesterday that saw the Gunners agree to cash in on Sanchez to Manchester City in the morning, only to withdraw when their expected replacement, Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, opted not to join them.
But El Mercurio is the claiming that the Chilean had already signed a deal, which leaves us with several questions that are not yet answered by the Chilean news outlet.
Obviously, it was not a contract deal that formerly made him a Manchester City player, but was it a contractual agreement?
The publication claims that the Etihad club are set to open a lawsuit against the Emirate club on the grounds of “non-fulfillment” of contract, which could lead to a dirty scenario down the road.
Reports already has it that Pep Guardiola’s team will still go for the Arsenal man in January, with Sanchez no longer motivated to feature for the Gunners after what happened yesterday.
