Former Manchester United captain Wayne Mark Rooney has been told to jubilate for his new club Everton if he scores against his former side Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
United legend Ryan Giggs says the former England international captain should display his passion for his new side if he does score on the day.
Wayne Rooney enjoyed a brilliant career at Old Trafford after leaving Everton for United back in 2004.
But the 31-year-old striker decided to leave the Manchester club for a return to his boyhood side this summer window.
Ryan Giggs told Sky Sports: “If you (Rooney) score a goal, you (everyone) hear players talk about (it), you sort of lose yourself and I (Giggs) don’t think we (fans) should get away from that.
He believes a player should show respect to their team and not go over the top, but if Wayne Rooney scores then, he should celebrate.
“Knowing Wayne (Rooney), I (Giggs) am sure he (Wayne Rooney) will be nervous, but relishing the chance as well and he (Wayne Rooney) will want to find the back of the net because that’s his job (duty on the pitch).”
The United legend also thinks Wayne Rooney will get a good reception from the Manchester United fans at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho’s men will lock horns with Merseyside club Everton on Sunday at 4 pm. A victory would ensure United remain top of the Premier League log.
