Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed six United stars that won’t feature in their opening premier league game against Leicester City this weekend.
The Portuguese delivered an injury update ahead of the clash and he admitted six players won’t be available as a result of injuries.
The players are:
Nemanja Matic
Sergio Romero
Marcos Rojo
Antonio Valencia
Diogo Dalot
Ander Herrera
Manchester United will host Leicester City at Old Trafford on Friday after a not-too-pleasant pre-season tour, and they will hope to get all three points from the duel.
The trio of Nemanja Matic, Sergio Romero and Diogo Dalot all passed through the knife during the summer.
Marcos Rojo was injured while representing his country at the World Cup in Russia, while both Anthony Valencia and Ander Herrera won’t be back before the opening day.
Earlier, Jose Mourinho noted that players like Alexis Sanchez who had a ‘proper pre-season’ are ‘fit and strong’, suggesting he will rely fully on those in the category in the opening days of the new campaign.
Mourinho concluded that players who participated in the World Cup finals and then went on vacation can’t be expected to be fully fit for the opening periods of the new season.
