In recent weeks, English Premier League giant Manchester United have been watching Las Palmas centre-back defender Mauricio Lemos.
The 20-year-old was said to be a summer target for La Liga side FC Barcelona just weeks after Las Palmas exercised an option to buy him permanently for €2million from Russian side Rubin Kazan.
Now according to the Sunday People, Manchester United reportedly watched Lemos in action in La Liga last month. They were also said to have watched him in his side’s Copa del Rey game with lower-league side Huesca.
And even though Barcelona offered €4million with other add-ons which brought everything to a further total of €8million, Las Palmas remained adamant and stood firm over the fee. Eventually, even Mauricio Lemos himself feared he wouldn’t get much of a chance in the Barcelona’s first team, as FC Barcelona got a handful of quality worldclass players in their squad.
Though the centre back’s release clause stands at €30million, Las Palmas said they would be open to doing a deal at a lower fee.
Nevertheless, new reports by The Sunday Express has included Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani to the list of Manchester United targets in the next transfer window in January. However, the Uruguay international is more likely to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club.
