Man United Might Spend €70Million On Victor Lindelof

Manchester United began an unimpressive campaign under Jose Mourinho this season, but as time flies by, it is glaring that they are getting better and better.

Despite that, it is still important that Mourinho needs to add more power to his squad, and should utilise the January Transfer window extensively. And as expected, lots of speculations had been made, with different fantastic players linked with a move to Old Trafford. One of the top stars heavily linked with a move is Benfica’s Victor Lindelof.

However,  BBC Sport reported earlier this week that Manchester United will not be signing the Swedish international in January. The reason given is that coach Jose Mourinho does not really need to buy a defender because he already has lots of options at his disposal.

Additionally, United are reportedly interested in signing Nelson Semedo too, but the Mirror claimed that the Portuguese club is not interested in selling him next month.

Even though Manchester United have improved as of late, the truth is they are not yet there. Lately, they have rarely kept clean sheets. This means they still lack a strong central defender who could be the leader of the back line for the team.

Therefore, Manchester United needs to spend money on a quality centre half come January. And one player that fits in is Dutch international Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk has been in a brilliant form this season for Southampton FC. His performances have caught the attention of big European clubs.

Even though good at the back, he is also useful upfront as he has scored three times in 25 appearances for the Saints this season.

Nevertheless, the issue here is that Southampton are not prepared to sell him, and according to the Telegraph, they have put a price tag of €70Million on him. This might discourage United from any potential deal, but we are looking as things unfold.
