Man United Boss Wants 27-Year-Old Chelsea Target

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could make a move for AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas when the transfer window reopens in the next few weeks time.

According to the publication from trusted Italian news outlet Corriere Dello Sport, the 27-year-old has a release clause of £31.5m in his current deal with the capital club.

Manolas represents a bargain transfer target for Mourinho and Manchester United in comparison with other potential signings.

The Red Devils could face the threat of Premier League rivals Chelsea in their pursuit of the Greek international centre back.

The Blues were strongly linked with a move for him during the summer’s transfer window.

He was one of centre-back transfer targets heavily linked with Chelsea when manager Maurizio Sarri was appointed as a replacement for the sacked Antonio Conte in the summer.

Jose Mourinho is in search of defensive reinforcements in the New Year as he bids to address his team’s issues at the back ahead of the second half of the season.
He has been linked with other centre-back targets such as Milan Skriniar, Daniele Rugani and Diego Godin.

Kostas Manolas has made over 180 appearances for AS Roma in all competitions since joining the club in 2014.
