Man City Move Four Points Clear Of Liverpool With Win vs Watford

Premier League champions Manchester City took a big step towards retaining their league title after a controversial win over London club Watford.

Manchester City beat Watford 3-1 at home with Raheem Sterling getting all the goals for the Citizens.

The victory over the Hornets ensured that Manchester City move four points clear of title rivals Liverpool who have played a game less.

Liverpool can cut the four-point lead back to just one point when they host Burnley at home on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City are in a position to win the league irrespective of what Liverpool does in their own games as far as the Citizens can win their remaining eight games in the Premier League.

The Citizens have won all but one of their league games this year and the latest victory came in controversial fashion.

Watford frustrated Manchester City in the first half before centre referee Paul Tierney played a big part in the opening goal scored by the champions shortly after the halftime interval.

Rather Sterling was actively in an offside position before Watford right-back Daryl Janmaat made a clearance off him and into the net.

England international Sterling went on to had two goals for his first league treble for the Citizens.

Watford substitute Gerard Deulofeu pulled one back but it was too little too late for the visitors.
