Premier League champions are reportedly plotting a £70m summer swoop for highly rated West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
This is according to the report from The Sun which claimed that Rice is on a three-man Manchester City shortlist of young English talents alongside Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell and Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Declan Rice is a utility player that can play as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder.
The 19-year-old has been in sensational form for the Hammers this season and he’s widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders on the Premier League scene.
Declan Rice recently declared that he would play for the England national team despite playing three international friendly games for the Republic of Ireland.
He’s expected to figure in the future Three Lions of England teams under manager Gareth Southgate.
Declan Rice was on the payroll at Chelsea before the club released him at the age of 14.
The Blues have come to realise their mistake in letting him go with the West Londoners previously linked with a swoop for him before recently putting pen to paper on a new contract at West Ham United.
Manchester City are keen to land him as the long-term replacement for the ageing Fernandinho who has been in very good for the Citizens this season.
