There is a reason they are called our best friends, they are loyal and give unconditional love, if anyone still had doubts about dogs and how much love they can give, well do we have a story for you.
A dog refused to leave her friends side for a week until rescuers came , after she got trapped into a cistern deep in a remote ravine.
Tille , an irish setter- spaniel mix and Phoebe, a basset hound have gone out for a walk together on the place they live on the island of Vashon, Washington, according to Tille .
When they failed to return home on night fall, the owner started getting worried for them, so the man asked Vashon Island Pet Protectors for help.
Volunteers at the Vashon Island, searched every day for a whole week for the two lost dogs, but their search unfortunately was not successful.
Then someone called and informed them “for the past few days a ‘reddish’ dog had been coming up to them when they were out on their property and then promptly heading back into a ravine.”
There, they discovered Tille was looking for someone to help during all this time , while her friend Phoebe unable to get out,for her friend got stuck into the cisterne.
“We had been out looking for about a week when we heard from a farmer here who noticed a reddish dog on his property,” Carey, a Vanish Island volunteer told The Dodo. “She had quietly approached him, and when she got his attention, turned around and headed back toward this ravine nearby. I decided to go check it out.”
“When I got there and looked down, Tillie saw me but didn’t come running up. She just stayed near the edge of this cistern, pressed with her head as close as she could get. Had she run up, we might have never realized that Phoebe was down there. She just stayed put, making it so clear that I had to come to her so I would see her friend,” Carey said.
The love and loyalty Tillie showed for her friend, brought everyone to tears.
“When I saw what was happening, tears were immediate. It was just so touching,” Carey recalls.
“For nearly a week Tillie stayed by her side with the exception of the few minutes of each day when she went for help. A huge thanks to Joe Curiel for realizing something was up and a round of applause to the awesome and amazing Miss Tillie. A true friend and a humbling example of the power of love,” Vashon Island Pet Protectors said in a Facebook post.
The owner couldn’t stop the tears of joy, when his precious dogs got back to him safe and sound, we wish them a happy and out of harm’s way life together.
