According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho may be losing interest in a transfer to Barcelona.
The Barcelona target was according to reports the subject of three offers from the Spanish La Liga giants over the summer transfer window, with Liverpool steadfast in their stance not to sell him, despite the playmaker submitting a transfer request.
It looks like though the Brazil international’s appetite for a transfer to Barcelona may have weakened a little bit if latest reports from Spain are to be believed.
Don Balon claim the Liverpool star has told his friends he is deeply sad with Barcelona’s attitude towards the move, believing the Catalan club did not show enough intent to sign him.
The news outlet even claimed that Coutinho’s mind could have changed on a transfer to Spain if the Reds receive further offers for him later in January.
A settled Philippe Coutinho would be massive for Liverpool’s ambitions this campaign and if the South American is truly losing interest in a transfer to Spain, then it can only a huge step towards achieving happiness at Anfield.
With 14 goals scored and nine assists provided last season, the Brazilian was one of Liverpool’s most effective out-field players and having made that kind of contribution in this season’s squad would go a long way to ensuring the Merseyside club finish in the top four for the second year in a row.
