Since moving to Bayern Munich for €37 million in 2013, Mario Gotze has failed to live up to huge expectations expected of him for a player of his calibre.
Mario Gotze has admitted that he wishes to leave Bayern Munich after failing to establish himself at the club, alerting a number of teams across Europe.
With Carlo Ancelotti coming in as head coach, there is a new era beginning and the 24-year-old does not want to be a part of it.
Gotze informed the German champions of his decision on Saturday, according to Bild.
Amongst the names being linked with the World Cup-winning midfielder are Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, as well as former club Borussia Dortmund.
Tottenham and Dortmund thought to be ahead of Liverpool as they both offer
Champions League football. However, a move to Anfield would see Gotze reunite with his former coach and mentor, Jurgen Klopp.
Gotze endured a miserable Euro 2016 as he began the tournament in the false nine role, but was quickly replaced by an orthodox striker in Mario Gomez.
In Germany’s semi-final tie against France , with Gomez out injured, coach Joachim Low opted for Thomas Muller up front, rather than Gotze. Instead, he came on in the 67th minute for Emre Can as they searched for an equaliser.
Gotze made only 21 appearances for Bayern in all competitions last season, scoring six goals.
