Reigning La Liga and UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid have announced the capturing of left-back Theo Hernandez from city rivals Atletico Madrid.
The 19-year-old, who had been emphatically linked with Premier League club Liverpool over the summer transfer window, will be introduced at the Bernabeu next Monday after completing a transfer for an undisclosed fee, believed to be about 26million euros.
Hernandez still can’t seem to play a first-team match for Atletico but inspired while on a season-long loan at Alaves, a team that played in the Copa del Rey final last campaign.
The Champions League winners announced that the France Under-20 international has penned a six-year deal with the La Liga champions.
He played 38 matches for Alaves in all competitions, including playing in the Copa del Rey final defeat by Barcelona – where he scored with a fantastic free-kick.
Metro reported in March that Liverpool are ready to triple the wage offer Theo Hernandez has from La Liga Champions Real Madrid to seal his move to the Anfield Stadium.
Liverpool was tracking the left-back as manager Jurgen Klopp seek a defender capable of rivaling first choice left back James Milner for the No.1 spot.
