Liverpool moved joint top of the Premier League as goals from Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho helped the Reds to a nervy victory over West Brom on Saturday.
Liverpool started the better side and went in front in the 20th minute when Roberto Firmino found Mane, and he slotted the ball past Ben Foster in-goal to finish off smoothly.
Emre Can could have added the second when Nathanial Clyne floated in a cross, but he was unable to connect with the ball.
Liverpool went two goals up before the interval through Coutinho after a poor clearance from Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster as the Brazilian skillfully found his way pass West Brom’s defence before striking the ball home.
West Brom found a way to calm the play, but were soon under the hammer immediately after the interval and it took a brilliant defending from McAuley to thwart Firmino from adding to the home side tally.
Dejan Lovren should have scored for Liverpool as his goal-bound header was met with a fantastic save by Foster to thwart the Liverpool defender.
Klopp’s men had series of chances to bury the game but Foster was just too good on the day to stop everything that was thrown at him.
Liverpool were on the edge when Gareth McAuley fired home after a Chris Brunt corner drooped in his path to give the Baggies some glimmer of hope.
West Brom then went looking for an equaliser, but Liverpool did enough to get the maximum points which see them move joint top of the Premier League table with Arsenal.
