Liverpool loan watch : How is Loris Karius faring in Turkish League

Germany international Loris Karius wasn’t forgiven for his errors in last season’s Champions League final match against Real Madrid which led to Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat.

The goalie was at fault for two goals conceded by the Reds which turned out as motivation to the Spanish side who defeated the Reds to lift their third consecutive Champions League glory.

To complicate his situation at Anfield, Loris Karius wasn’t impressive during pre-season games as he fumbled once more.

He looked like he hasn’t gotten over the criticism and threat targeted at him as result of his shambolic performance in Kiev last season.

While suffering from the heartbreak of losing in his third final match since he came to the Anfield three years ago, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp shockingly spent a whopping sum of £65m on Roma goalkeeper Alison Becker before the start of the season.

Signing the Brazilian at such price meant nothing other than Loris Karius won’t be given the liberty to feature as the Reds first choice goalie.

Having seen his value depreciated so much among Liverpool fans, the German — who was made the first-choice due to Mignolet’s unforgivable errors — decided to move elsewhere to redeem himself.

At first, Karius couldn’t find an interested suitor as no club wanted to gamble with his signature. However, as the summer transfer window draws nearer to an end, Turkish Super League giants Besiktas made enquiries about his availability.

They eventually reached a two-year loan deal with the Reds for his signature before the start of the season.

In his first speech as Besiktas player, Karius thanked the club for the trust they had in him. He further promises to redeem himself and also to justify the trust the club have in him.

How has it been for the goalie: Redeemed or the same?

Due to his experience and some excellent performance during his little spell as Liverpool’s number one goaltender, Karius was made Besiktas’ first choice but he hasn’t been convincing.

Though he made some fine saves in a couple of matches he played in the early part of the season, his form has drastically decreased and his place in the team is under great threat.

After 11 matches in all competitions, he has conceded 16 goals, making him one of the worst goalkeepers in the Turkish League at the moment.

He hasn’t been able to coordinate his defence and has conceded cheap goals so far.

With his current form, it won’t be surprising should the Turkish giants decide to terminate his contract in an abrupt manner.

According to reports making headlines in recent weeks, Besiktas manager Şenol Güneş isn’t happy with the goalie’s work rate and is thinking of bringing another netminder to the Vodafone Park Stadium during the next transfer market.

Another report which emanated from the Anfield stadium last week claimed that Şenol Güneş is looking at the possibility of exchanging Karius for Divok Origi in January.

As it stands, it is safe to admit that Karius’ rise to stardom was a short-lived one and he’s currently in a form capable of making him go down the drain at Liverpool or any other club he eventually joins in the nearest future.

However, there is still much time for him to right his wrongs and return back to prominence. It’s just 12 matches to the season, he could turn things around with Besiktas and eventually lay claim for a place inKlopp’ss starting lineup in the 2019-20 season
