Liverpool Set To Sign Another Premier League Defender

Premier League leaders Liverpool are eyeing a loan bid for Burnley defender James Tarkowski in what’s a surprising decision on the part of the Reds amidst their injury crisis in defence.

According to the publication from the renowned English news portal The Sun, Liverpool want to sign the centre back on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season.

It was further revealed that Burnley manager Sean Dyche is holding out for a permanent deal that could be worth £50m.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be ready to commit such an amount of money on a player that would be a temporary solution to the injury-depleted Liverpool defence.

Dutch international Virgil Van Dijk is the only fit senior centre back at Liverpool after he returned to training following a short spell out with illness.

Van Dijk missed the FA Cup third round clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux on Monday night which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Reds.

Dejan Lovren joined the duo of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez on the sidelines after limping out of the Wolves game with a hamstring injury.

Both Matip and Gomez have been out of action since last year.
