Merseyside giant Liverpool and their fans are heavily against any plans by the Premier League to reschedule their fixture at North London club Arsenal to Christmas Eve.
According to a source, as reported by ESPN FC, the Reds are aware of the proposed move and are prepared to contest against the possibility of the match, originally scheduled for 23rd December, being put back by a day for television purpose.
The Merseyside giant will contest that playing at the Emirates on Christmas Eve would make it very difficult for away fans to attend the game in North London.
One of Premier League’s broadcast partners Sky Sports, which holds the broadcast rights to cover English Premier League games in two (2) Sunday slots on each match week during the League season, has not yet revealed which matches it will broadcast over the festive season.
The Reds supporters’ group Spirit of Shankly released an official statement during the week expressing their disapprobation, about any plan of moving the high-profile encounter to that Sunday.
A source has also informed to news outlet ESPN FC that the Gunners are “in discussions” as regards the potential rescheduling of the clash.
