Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijik is training alone after informing the club of his decision to leave this summer.
The Dutch defender has been tipped to make a move away from the Saint Mary’s this summer for a bigger club following his impressive displays with the Saints since he joined them from Celtic.
There are reports that Manchester City and Liverpool are both keen on signing him this summer with the latter believed to be the front runners in a potential deal.
It is understood that Southampton are holding out for a fee in region of 60 million pounds for Van Dijk and has even warned off Liverpool for making unethical approach for the defender.
Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino has now said the 26-year-old has been told to train alone as he is not the right frame of mind to be with the squad.
He said: “He is not involved with the team because psychologically he is not 100 per cent.
“If you are not showing 100 per cent with the team then I need to work with the players who are 100 per cent to defend Southampton. It’s easy for me.
“The boy said that he is not available to play because he wants to leave. This is the decision.
“I had to say, ‘If you don’t want to be involved because you don’t feel okay then you have to train alone until this period of time is over.’”
