Liverpool 2-0 Crystal Palace; three possible lessons from the game

Liverpool faced off with Crystal palace in another challenge match at the International Championship Cup in Asia as Liverpool geared up towards the new season.

It was a frenetic encounter as both sides fired at goal with the one and only intention of breaking the deadlock. Thanks to two goals from the attacking duo of Dominic Solanke and Divock Origi in the 61st minute and 78th minute, Liverpool prevailed in the encounter.

Jurgen Klopp will be pleased with his sides’ performance as they build ahead of the season opener next month with series of positive results in the Pre-season friendlies.

On this note we evaluate some possible lessons from the Liverpool 2-0 win over fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

SOLANKE IMPROVISES FOR LIVERPOOL

The Youthful Liverpool forward scored his first goal for the Club from a low and powerful strike in the 61st minute to give his side (Liverpool) the lead in an exemplary fashion.

After an explosive first half that saw the likes of Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho coming close to open the scoring for Liverpool and some good attempts from Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend, it was the former Chelsea lad that opened the scoring in the match.

Coutinho fed Origi in the central position and the Belgian flicked the ball into the path of Solanke that turned superbly to finish brilliantly with a low drive just outside the box.

It was an impressive way to open the scoring as Solanke responded with his debut goal much to the delight of his teammates and manager as well.

LIVERPOOL WERE THE BETTER SIDES

It took the Anfield side 61st minute to break the deadlock through Solanke effort after just the hour mark after series of attempt in the game. Liverpool came close in the first period through new signing Mohamed Salah who found space for himself from the left wing.

The Egyptian was found on the left with a decent pass from skipper Jordan Henderson and Salah beat his marker to unleash a famous drive just wide across the face of goal.

Coutinho came close as well after some good footwork and wriggling around the box but in the end Solanke and Origi got the goal to confirm Liverpool superiority in the encounter with two unreplied goals.

LIVERPOOL FINDING THEIR RHYTHM

Jurgen Klopp will be happy with his side after their impressive win over Crystal Palace in the International Championship Cup in Asia. With two unreplied goals against Frank De Boer’s (Crystal Palace) side, it is evident that Liverpool are progressing well as a team despite the pursuit of yet to be agreed deal for enterprising and youthful midfielder Naby Keita.

The movement between the forward duo of Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke for Liverpool’s opener was appreciable as the former doubled Liverpool’s lead in the 79th minute.

Coutinho and Salah also showed some good individual prowess to give a glimpse of what will be expected of the Reds when the Premier League begins next month and probably also in the UEFA Champions League hopefully when they qualify through the Champions League play-off.
